Terms of service
Last updated 28 August 2026. InkCircle is operated from the United States. Questions: help@inkcircle.app.
What InkCircle is
A tool for authors to send an unpublished manuscript to beta readers they choose, and to collect feedback and reading progress. We are not a publisher, an agent, a bookshop or a marketplace. We never sell your book, and no money passes between you and your readers.
Your book stays yours
You keep every right to everything you upload. We claim no ownership and no licence beyond the one thing we need: storing your manuscript and showing it to the readers you invite, so the product can work at all.
We do not read your manuscripts, and we do not use them to train anything.
What we ask of you
- Upload only work you have the right to share.
- Do not use InkCircle for anything unlawful.
- Do not try to get around a reader's limits or an author's confidentiality agreement.
- One person per sign-in address. Team seats are how several people share an account.
If an account is used to break these, we may suspend it. Where we can, we will say why first.
Paying
There is a free plan and it stays free. Paid plans are Author at $12 a month, or $10 a month billed yearly and Studio at $29 a month, or $24 a month billed yearly. Prices are in US dollars and exclude any tax we are required to add.
Payment is taken by Stripe. Card details never reach InkCircle. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel, and you can cancel at any time from Manage billing on your account page. Cancelling stops the next charge; the plan runs to the end of the period you have paid for.
Nothing you have made is ever deleted by a change of plan. An account that returns to Free keeps every manuscript, every reading link and every comment. It simply cannot add more than the Free plan allows.
If you are charged for something you did not want, write to help@inkcircle.app and we will refund it.
Readers
Readers do not need an account and pay nothing. A reading link is meant for one person — please do not pass it on. If the author has put a confidentiality agreement in front of their book, signing it is an agreement between you and that author, not with us.
Comments you leave are shown to the author and can be exported by them.
Stopping
You can close your account at any time from your account page. It deletes everything and cannot be undone, so the dialog offers you a download of all your feedback first.
We may close an account that breaks these terms. If we ever shut InkCircle down, we will give notice and time to export.
What we do not promise
InkCircle is provided as it is. We work hard on reliability, but we cannot promise the service will never be unavailable or that nothing will ever go wrong. Keep your own copy of your manuscript — you wrote it somewhere before you uploaded it, and that copy is the one that matters.
To the extent the law allows, our liability is limited to what you have paid us in the twelve months before the problem.
Changes
If these terms change in a way that matters, we will email account holders before it takes effect. Small corrections are made here with the date above updated.
